HIGH SCHOOL CORE COURSES APPROVED BY THE NCAA
accredited college preparatory program

Online Schools For High School

HIGH SCHOOL PROGRAM

Graduate from NFC Academy High School with a fully accredited diploma in our online home school program. The college preparatory program prepares students for their next step into college.  Start anytime of the year and work on your studies anywhere there is Internet.  Set your own daily schedule as you work with NFC Academy certified teachers. The homeschool program for high school is not only fully accredited, but core courses have been approved by the NCAA to meet academic eligibility.

We take care to ensure you have all of your academic records, including your report cards and high school transcript.  Students will always know where they are with our Path to Graduation which is completed at enrollment and updated each year.

graduation requirements

Our full time students at NFC Academy will have their high school homeschool programs designed working with the Academy Academic department preparing them for their next step into college. The student will be able to design their own “print” on their course of study if there is specific interest when it comes to electives; however, key core academic requirements will need to be included.

Students will graduate with a minimum of 24 credit hours.  There are specific courses within the graduation requirements which must be completed, and they will be listed in their respective areas.

HIGH SCHOOL SCHEDULE

TRADITIONAL HIGH SCHOOL 6 X 2
Most high schools follow a traditional six period day and that is our standard schedule. For high school students to meet the required 24 credit minimum for high school graduation, they take six courses covering both semesters.
First Semester*                                                      Second Semester*
New Testament Survey - 0.5 credit                         New Testament Survey - 0.5 credit
English I - 0.5 credit                                                English I - 0.5 credit
Algebra I - 0.5 credit                                                Algebra I - 0.5 credit
World History  - 0.5 credit                                       World History - 0.5 credit
Physical Education  - 0.5 credit                               Health - 0.5 credit
Earth Science - 0.5 credit                                        Earth Science - 0.5 credit

*Sample 9th grade schedule of courses used as an example.

ADJUSTED HIGH SCHOOL SCHEDULE 4 X 2
Homeschooling gives the student the opportunity to complete their courses in a schedule that best fits their own schedule and how they learn best.  One option will be taking 4 courses each semester and completing each course taken during a semester. The student still earns the 6 credits needed to remain on target for 24 credits at graduation.
First Semester*                                                    Second Semester*
English I - 1.0 credit                                              Algebra I - 1.0 credit
World History - 1.0 credit                                      Earth Science - 1.0 credit
Physical Education- 0.5 credit                              Health - 0.5 credit
New Testament Survey - 0.5 credit                       New Testament Survey - 0.5 credit

*Sample 9th grade schedule of courses used as an example.

FLEX SCHEDULE
If you want a different schedule one semester than the other then consider the FLEX schedule. Maybe you have something that needs more of your time one semester, so the FLEX schedule may be just what you need. As you would expect with this schedule you would be investing more time in your studies one semester over the other.  You still will earn the six credits as you move toward graduation with 24 credits required.
First Semester*                                               Second Semester*
English I - 1.0 credit                                         Algebra I - 1.0 credit
World History - 1.0 credit                                 Earth science - 1.0 credit
Physical Education - 0.5 credit                         Health - 0.5 credit
New Testament Survey - 1.0 credit

*Sample 9th grade schedule of courses used as an example.

Note:  Not all schools will offer each of these options.  If you chose to transfer during a semester to a school that does not offer the optional schedules you may have some extra work to do. Even as the scheduling options provide some time benefits, nothing in the schedule suggests you will work less time in a course to complete all required assignments.  You may invest more time in one semester over another in such a circumstance. Physical Education and Health are one semester courses for .5 credit each.

a sample online HIGH SCHOOL course of study

A typical schedule of courses for a student entering ninth grade would be like below and then the succeeding years follow that. Most students will have a schedule like below, but some students may want to begin their world language early or take some other course in a different year.  The course of study is flexible, but the student must complete their high school years with 24 credits and ensure they have met all requiredments.  Those courses which have a prerequisite must take that prerequisite first...for example, a student must satisfy the Algebra I requirement before she can take Algebra II.
