High School Grade: 9th-12th Accredited: Cognia-SACS/CASI, Middle States, FACCS Essentials of Communication: A Guide to Interacting Effectively in Today's World™ is a five-unit elective course for high school students. The materials cover fundamentals of the communication process important for successful interaction in a variety of social and professional settings. Students can use the course to gain and apply knowledge about communication theories, characteristics of language and language use, interpersonal relationships, group dynamics, and public speaking in order to interact more effectively with others.
Communication is key in the information age. This one-semester course created for Christian students teaches the theory and the tools to communicate effectively and provides exercises to practice the speaking and collaboration skills essential for success in the 21st century. Students will learn about perception and self-concept, verbal and nonverbal communication, listening, interpersonal relationships and etiquette, group dynamics, and leadership based on biblical principles. This course will give the student the tools they need to build their communication and collaboration skills with this speech course. With an emphasis on communication theory and language usage in different situations, this course builds confidence and skills. |
